Mood: waiting for wind
3rd April 2010
Windsurfing: Pevensey Bay
Wind Direction: SSW
Wind Stength: 10-15 mph
Surf / Sea State: Small waves, ankle to boom hig
Air Temperature: chilly
Sea Temperature: ok
Weather: yellow ball up and some wind
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

Another quick hour on the water re-aquainting myself with this windsurfing lark.
Wind looked up and down, though seemed almost as much as yesterday. Kiters were on 12m kites and a few were walking back upwind after 2-3 runs.
As a billy no-mates windsurfer, I just played safe and stuck the 5.9m Duke on the Fly 10'0 to go and catch some waves.
Waves were pretty nice to begin with, but eventually the rip seemed to take the power out of the waves and signalled end of session, thankfully not before I'd scored a few sweet rides carving the waves backside stylee.
Wasn't epic, but the yellow ball was in the sky and the wind was blowing and I couldn't let the kiters have it all to themselves now could I?
Nice bunch mind, so fair play to them .... and their dry suits seemed to make some sense, though to be honest, I wasn't cold despite managing to fall off the Fly gybing it once too ..... guess I'm still pretty rusty !!!
Made plenty of fast tacks on the inside, and no problems with them on the outside either .... catching waves is so easy, and so rewarding, though I was wondering how much fun I might have had if I'd rigged either 6.4m or 6.9m on the Freewave 115 ?
At times it felt like 5.9m was too big, but it was mostly perfect, and the Fly ... a decent safe option for someone who's been told to take it easy ;-)
Surf's up ..... :-)
